DAMPAK HILIRISASI NIKEL TERHADAP LINGKUNGAN DAN MASYARAKAT

Hilirisasi nikel merupakan salah satu program strategis nasional yang diharapkan dapat mendukung perekonomian negara. Sayangnya, program hilirisasi justru membawa dampak negatif berupa pencemaran lingkungan, penggundulan hutan yang berlebihan, mengganggu kesehatan masyarakat, meningkatkan konflik, menghilangkan sumber penghidupan, bahkan intimidasi dari pihak yang tidak bertanggung jawab. Secara kualitatif, terdapat bukti dari hasil survei bahwa pertambangan nikel memberikan dampak negatif, berbeda dengan tujuan utama yang semula untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat, namun malah memperburuk keadaan dan menindas masyarakat. Selain itu, pemerintah dalam hal ini selalu mengabaikan dan terkesan mengabaikan tangisan rakyat, seolah-olah lupa akan tugas yang seharusnya diembannya yaitu membantu rakyat, khususnya rakyat yang sedang berjuang mendapatkan keadilan.

Abstract

Nickel downstreaming is one of the national strategic programs which is expected to support the country's economy. Unfortunately, the downstreaming program actually has negative consequences for environmental pollution, excessive deforestation, disturbing public health, increasing conflict, eliminating sources of livelihood, and even intimidation by irresponsible parties. Qualitatively, there is evidence from the survey results that nickel mining has had a negative impact, in contrast to the main aim which was originally to improve people's welfare, but instead makes things worse and oppresses people. Apart from that, the government in this case always ignores and seems to ignore the people's cries, as if they have forgotten the task they should carry out, namely to help the people, especially the people who are struggling to get justice.
