Abstract
The implementation of the ijarah contract in employment relationships within the service sector is expected not only to fulfill its legal pillars and requirements but also to realize manfa'ah (benefit) for all parties involved. However, practical challenges often hinder the achievement of these objectives. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the ijarah contract in the employment relationship at Radens The Barbershop, Keutapang, Aceh Besar, and to assess its conformity with the principles of Islamic economic law. This study employed a qualitative method using an empirical juridical approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed descriptively by relating empirical findings to the principles of Islamic economic law governing the ijarah contract. The findings reveal that the implementation of the ijarah contract has fulfilled its essential pillars and legal requirements, as indicated by mutual agreement between the parties, the clarity of the service object, the agreed ujrah distribution mechanism, and the mutual consent of the mu'jir and the musta'jir. Nevertheless, the implementation has not been fully optimal because some workers have not yet met the required service competency standards, thereby affecting service quality. The study concludes that, while the ijarah contract is legally valid under Islamic economic law, its objectives of manfa'ah, justice, trustworthiness, and professionalism have not yet been fully realized.
