Abstract

The utilization of zakat funds plays a strategic role in post-disaster recovery, particularly in providing adequate housing and basic facilities. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of zakat fund utilization by LAZISMU in housing, sanitation, and clean water programs in Cianjur after the 2022 earthquake. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that zakat funds significantly improved housing quality through the RTLH program and enhanced access to sanitation and clean water. The BI-WAS index shows substantial improvement in water and sanitation dimensions after program implementation, indicating high effectiveness in improving beneficiaries’ welfare. This study highlights the importance of integrating zakat into formal disaster management strategies and emphasizes a holistic recovery approach covering housing, sanitation, and health.
