FORMULATING SCHOOL VISION, MISSION, AND VALUES AS A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the concepts, processes, and practices involved in formulating the school’s vision, mission, and values as part of the institution’s strategic planning. This study employs a library research method by reviewing books, scientific journals, and various relevant literature. The data analysis technique used in this article is descriptive qualitative analysis. The findings indicate that the school’s vision, mission, and values play a fundamental role in determining the direction of educational institution development and in shaping an organizational culture oriented toward quality. The quality of vision, mission, and values formulation is strongly influenced by contextual analysis, stakeholder participation, and leadership capacity in integrating these components into institutional policies and programs. The study concludes that the formulation of vision, mission, and values must be conducted systematically, adaptively, and collaboratively to possess strong strategic power. The implications of this research highlight the need to strengthen schools’ capacity in strategic management as well as the importance of policies that encourage more contextual and applicable formulation of vision, mission, and values.
