Abstract

This research examines Indonesia's foreign policy, particularly focusing on President Prabowo Subianto's involvement in the 2025 BRICS Summit in Brazil. Indonesia's strategic motivations for joining BRICS and the potential impacts of this membership on its position within the global multipolar order. Indonesia positions itself within BRICS diplomacy, the representation strategies employed, and the implications of this partnership for Indonesia’s foreign policy in relation to regional integration, global trade, and security. Indonesia’s participation is driven by its desire to enhance economic cooperation, particularly through the New Development Bank (NDB), and to assert a more influential role in shaping the policies of the Global South. Furthermore, President Prabowo’s leadership style, characterized by strategic autonomy and pragmatic diplomacy, influences Indonesia’s approach within BRICS, where it seeks to balance its regional commitments and global aspirations. The research concludes that Indonesia’s entry into BRICS reflects its evolving foreign policy goals, including diversification of partnerships and the pursuit of greater economic resilience and political influence in global governance.
