The development of media technology has transformed the production, dissemination, and consumption of religious knowledge. One of the major hadith collections undergoing significant media transformation is Musnad Ahmad by Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal. This study examines the remediation of Musnad Ahmad, namely the transformation of its transmission from manuscript tradition to printed editions and subsequently to digital media, as well as its implications for scholarly authority and accessibility. Employing qualitative library research with historical and media analysis, this study draws upon literature concerning the history of Islamic printing, Islamic print culture, the publication history of Musnad Ahmad, and media transformation within Islamic scholarship. The findings reveal that the remediation of Musnad Ahmad has progressed through three major stages: manuscript, print, and digital. Each stage has reshaped mechanisms of transmission, scholarly authority, and public accessibility. Digital media have expanded readership, accelerated hadith retrieval, and enabled integration with digital hadith databases. Nevertheless, this transformation has also generated new challenges, including shifts in traditional learning patterns, the diminishing role of sanad-based authority, and the increasing need for digital hadith literacy. Therefore, the remediation of Musnad Ahmad reflects not only technological transformation but also broader changes in the culture of hadith scholarship in the digital era.
