About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Islamic Culture and Literature (JICeL) is the journal of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin.

"The Journal of Islamic Culture and Literature" is an academic journal that focuses on the study of Islamic culture and literature. The journal presents in-depth articles on various aspects of Islamic culture and related literary works. Its scope encompasses literary analysis, history, arts, and cultural issues related to the Islamic world.

It mainly publishes articles written in English, Arabic, and Bahasa.

Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to JICeL independently reviewed by reviewers in the form of "blind review". The decision for publication, amendment, or rejection is based upon their reports or recommendations. In certain cases, the editor may submit an article for review to another, the third reviewer, before making a decision, if necessary.

History

In early 2020, our dean and his colleagues desired a journal publication that could accommodate scholarly writings on Islamic culture, literature, language, history, and scientific civilization in the Islamic world. Consequently, a small team was formed to manage the journal. However, the dynamic campus circumstances at the time forced the journal's original editors to relocate to other areas to serve the community. They published their first issue, but after two years, it went on hiatus, with no follow-up.

In 2023, the enthusiasm to continue this journal resurfaced with renewed persons. Therefore, our dean formed a small team to continue publication. Since then, the Journal of Islamic Culture & Literature (JICeL) has been consistently published until now. The name of this journal is as envisioned by its initial initiators.
