Introduction: The skin acts as a protective barrier against environmental exposure and contributes to sensory perception, temperature regulation, and vitamin D synthesis. Bee-derived products have gained attention in cosmetic research because they contain diverse bioactive compounds with antioxidant effect, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and wound-healing properties. Aims: This review aimed to evaluate the potential of bee-derived products as active ingredients in cosmetic formulations and dermatological applications. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar for studies published between 2010 and 2025. The review analyzed the bioactive composition, pharmacological activities, formulation characteristics, and cosmetic applications of bee-derived ingredients in topical preparations. Results: Bee-derived products contain various bioactive constituents, including flavonoids, phenolic compounds, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, and antimicrobial peptides. These compounds contribute to antioxidant effect, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and skin-repair activities. Several studies reported the successful incorporation of bee-derived ingredients into creams, gels, masks, soaps, lip balms, and serums with acceptable stability, safety, and skin compatibility. However, differences in botanical and environmental origins may influence their chemical composition and formulation consistency. Conclusion: Bee-derived products demonstrate strong potential as natural and multifunctional cosmetic ingredients. Their diverse biological activities support their application in skincare formulations, although further studies are required to improve standardization, optimize formulation processes, and confirm long-term safety and clinical efficacy.
