Performance of Paving Blocks with Waste Marble Sand as Fine Aggregate
Keywords:
Marble Waste, pollution, Paving BlockAbstract
Background: Marble processing produces mineral residue that can be reused in construction. Objective: To evaluate paving blocks containing 10%, 25%, and 50% waste marble sand. Methods: A posttest-only control-group experiment assessed 14-day compressive strength and water absorption according to SNI 03-0691-1996. One-way ANOVA and post hoc tests used α=0.05. Results: Mean compressive strength/water absorption were 30.4 MPa/3.14% for control, 12.8 MPa/7.5% at 10%, 14.5 MPa/7.4% at 25%, and 22.8 MPa/4.5% at 50%. ANOVA was significant for compressive strength (p=0.001) and water absorption (p<0.001). At 50%, compressive strength did not differ from control (p=0.393), while water absorption did (p=0.029). Conclusion: The 50% mixture performed best among replacement groups and met the Class B criteria evaluated in this study.
