Open Science Fostering Verification, Rigor, and Research Reproducibility

Ihyaussunnah: Journal of Ulumul Hadith and Living Sunnah is dedicated to maximizing the transparency, reliability, and replicability of its published scholarship. Authors reporting empirical fieldwork, qualitative textual corpora, statistical surveys, or computational hadith analyses are strongly encouraged and expected to share underlying research artifacts according to FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

Core Data Sharing Principles
1. Data Availability Statement (DAS)
Mandatory Declaration Every manuscript must feature a dedicated "Data Availability Statement" specifying where and how supporting datasets can be accessed by peers.
Public or Restricted Access Statements must explicitly state whether data is hosted in an open repository, provided in supplementary files, or restricted due to ethical reasons.
2. Open Repository Deposition
Persistent Identifiers (DOI) Datasets should be deposited in recognized repositories (e.g., Zenodo, Dryad, Harvard Dataverse, Figshare) providing a citable, permanent DOI.
Open Licenses Datasets deposited in external repositories should preferably use permissive licenses such as CC0, ODC-By, or CC BY 4.0.
3. Qualitative & Textual Artifacts
Hadith Data Extraction Sheets Studies employing sanad tracing, matn variants, or thematic hadith matrices should provide clean tabulations or codebooks as supplementary files.
Living Sunnah Field Protocols Fieldwork questionnaires, interview schedules, observation rubrics, and ethnographic coding schemes should be shared for auditability.
4. Ethical Protections & Exceptions
Informant Anonymization Living Sunnah studies involving human participants must ensure transcripts are fully anonymized to eliminate risks of privacy compromise.
Legitimate Exceptions When legal, cultural sensitivity, or proprietary boundaries preclude public deposit, authors must explain these limitations clearly in the DAS.
Standard Data Availability Statement Templates
1. Repository Deposit "The primary hadith matrix and qualitative coding dataset generated during this study are openly available in Zenodo at [insert DOI link]." 2. Embedded in Supplementary "All relevant textual variants, sanad diagrams, and field instruments are included directly within the manuscript and its online supplementary material." 3. Controlled / Available on Request "Field interview records contain participant personal data; anonymized excerpts are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable academic request."
Verification Workflow for Peer Reviewers
1
Data Audit Reviewers inspect availability and completeness of primary data.
2
Method Check Assessment of whether procedures allow independent reconstruction.
3
Clarification Request for raw logs or corpus spreadsheets if gaps exist.
4
Publication Linking DOI reciprocal linking between article and repository record.
Recommended Open Repositories for Research Datasets: Authors can freely deposit and archive research files via Zenodo, Open Science Framework (OSF), or Harvard Dataverse. Visit Zenodo.org

Sharing datasets and research code enhances citation impact, accelerates peer verification, and prevents duplication of effort. For guidance regarding appropriate data repositories or anonymization criteria, authors may contact the Ihyaussunnah Editorial Secretariat.
