Abstract
This study examines the practice of buying and selling palm oil using a unilateral weighing system in Sampaga District, Mamuju Regency, from the perspective of Islamic law. This research employs a qualitative method with normative and sharia-based approaches. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the weighing process is conducted without the direct involvement of farmers and has become a common practice in the local community. From the perspective of Islamic law, this practice is not permissible because one of the essential pillars of a valid sale, namely sighat (ijab and qabul), is not fulfilled, despite the existence of trust-based customary practices. In principle, the unilateral weighing system does not comply with Islamic legal provisions and has the potential to harm consumer rights. Therefore, this study encourages the community and farmer groups to pay greater attention to the pillars and conditions of valid sales transactions and to collaborate in implementing trading practices that are in accordance with Islamic law.
