Abstract
Deforestation is one of the most pressing environmental issues, directly impacting ecosystem sustainability and the welfare of communities living near forest areas. Kalotok Village, located within the working area of the Rongkong Forest Management Unit (KPH Rongkong), faces serious challenges due to the increasing conversion of protected forests into agricultural land. The low level of legal awareness among the community has become a major factor accelerating deforestation and weakening conservation efforts. This community service activity aimed to enhance public understanding of forestry regulations and to develop participatory and contextual legal outreach strategies. The implementation methods included direct legal counseling, group discussions, distribution of legal information materials, and the use of local community social media. The activity involved community leaders, farmers, youth, and village officials as strategic partners. The results showed increased community participation in legal discussions and a growing interest in legal access mechanisms such as PBPH licensing. The most effective strategy was found to be small group discussions, which fostered a sense of ownership and community engagement. Despite challenges such as low legal literacy and regulatory inconsistencies, this activity had a positive initial impact and can serve as a foundation for more structured and sustainable legal assistance programs.
