Abstract
This study aims to analyze the development of economic growth, rice production, and palm oil production in the regencies of Jambi Province during 2019–2024 and to examine the effects of rice and palm oil production on economic growth. This study employed a quantitative approach using secondary data analyzed through statistical techniques. The results show that rice and palm oil production are related to economic growth in the regencies of Jambi Province. Rice production has a negative and insignificant effect on economic growth, indicating that increased rice production has not significantly contributed to regional economic growth. This condition is associated with the dominant role of rice as a food commodity to meet community needs. In contrast, palm oil production has a positive and significant effect on economic growth. These findings indicate that economic growth in the regencies of Jambi Province is more strongly driven by the plantation sector, particularly palm oil, than by food crops. Therefore, regional economic development should be pursued in a balanced manner by maintaining rice as a food commodity while developing palm oil as a leading economic commodity.
