Abstract

Abstract: This study examines Human Behavior in the Social Environment (HBSE) as a multidimensional paradigm in Indonesian social work practice, integrating the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual interactions of individuals with their layered environments (micro, mezzo, exo, macro) based on the Person-in-Environment (PIE) model and Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory. Using a qualitative, descriptive-analytical approach through a literature review of secondary data from journals and books, the study highlights the importance of HBSE for holistic client assessment, contextual intervention planning, and social policy development addressing issues such as stunting, community mental health, and social disparities. The interdisciplinary synthesis of HBSE with psychology (internal processes), sociology (social structure), and social ecology (system interdependence) reinforces the urgency of its implementation in Indonesia to improve sustainable social functioning. The results confirm HBSE as a crucial foundation for social work practitioners in analyzing human resilience and vulnerability to the environment.
