Abstract

This study examines a local tradition in Central Sulawesi, specifically in Sigi Regency, known as the Petambuli tradition, which is practiced during wedding ceremonies. The research aims to analyze the implementation of the Petambuli tradition, community perceptions toward it, and the religious values contained within the practice. This study employs a qualitative research method, utilizing both phenomenological and Qur’anic interpretative approaches. The findings indicate that the Petambuli tradition embodies important spiritual values, including sincerity, gratitude, respect for others, appreciation of knowledge, and the cultivation of proper social ethics. The study also reveals diverse perspectives among the Kaili community, where some consider Petambuli performed exclusively before the ijab and qabul ceremony. Furthermore, the values embedded in the Petambuli tradition show strong correlations with Qur’anic teachings related to honoring humanity, sincerity in intention, gratitude to God and fellow humans, respect for knowledge, and approMente manners when visiting others, as reflected in Qur’anic verses.
