Abstract

This study aims to describe the knowledge sharing strategy of professional competence of librarians based on the SECI model within the Indonesian Librarians Association (IPI) of Jambi Province.  This research is based on a number of librarians, both regional and national, who have only reached 21%. One of the factors is the weak professional competence of librarians. The experience at IPI Jambi Province by conducting knowledge sharing with the SECI Model approach actually shows a positive trend marked by the passing of the competency test. This research is a qualitative research with a case study research method. The data collection method of this study is through structured and unstructured interviews, observation and documentation. Qualitative data analysis consists of: Data collection period, anticipation, data display and conclusion making. The results of the study show that the implementation of knowledge sharing of professional competencies based on the SECI model by the Indonesian Librarians Association of Jambi Province is carried out through knowledge sharing management that is processed in a structured and continuous manner, starting with  the socialization stage  with seminar and scientific discussion activities, the externalization phase  through Forum Group Discussion (FGD) activities, and the combination phase of  activities Workshops, and internalization phases  through internships, education and training, as well as implementation in the work environment of each librarian. This research produced a new concept in the form of a knowledge sharing management model with the SECI model approach, as well as a new knowledge concept in the form of a collection evaluation model, a school literacy movement (SLM) activity model, steps to equalize structural to functional positions, and steps to classify documents.
