CONFORMITY OF MANAGEMENT OF ANGKE KAPUK NATURE TOURISM PARK TO THE PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

Abstract

This study examines the suitability of the management of Angke Kapuk Nature Tourism Park (TWA Angke Kapuk) with the principles of sustainable tourism, encompassing economic, social, and environmental aspects. The analysis employed a quantitative descriptive method using a scoring approach based on various sustainability indicators. The results indicate that the management of TWA Angke Kapuk is considered fairly consistent with the principles of sustainable tourism, although several aspects still require improvement.

The main issues identified in the economic aspect include the absence of local entrepreneurs within the tourism area and workers’ incomes that do not yet meet the minimum wage standard. From the social aspect, community involvement in the planning process remains limited, while tourist education is provided through tour guides and information boards, although access to these educational facilities remains limited.

In the environmental aspect, mangrove conservation and wildlife protection efforts have been implemented; however, solid waste management and the utilization of renewable energy still require improvement. Therefore, optimizing more inclusive and sustainable management strategies is necessary to enhance the positive impacts of tourism on both the environment and surrounding communities.
