Abstract

Poverty is the oldest and most difficult problem to overcome to this day, and so far the resolution of poverty problems still ignores the spatial aspects that can be seen in the uniform application of poverty alleviation programs. Currently, East Kotawaringin Regency ranks first in terms of the number of poor people in Central Kalimantan Province at 30,328 people and there is no measurable information and analysis on the characteristics of poverty that are a problem in East Kotawaringin Regency. From these conditions, it is necessary to study the identification of poverty clusters in Kabupaten Kotawaringin Timur and the condition of the dominance of land use in the poverty clusters that are formed. In an effort to study poverty clusters in Kabupaten Kotawaringin Timur, cluster analysis is used with a level of data detail up to the individual level which will then be aggregated into spatial aspects at the village scale. The results of the multicollinearity test showed that the Variance Inflation Factor (VIF) value of the variables Number of household members, source of clean water, source of lighting energy, defecation facilities, number of bicycles and household welfare status showed a number below 0.05 and through the results of cluster analysis, poverty in East Kotawaringin Regency was divided into 3 clusters, the first cluster with low poverty characteristics with difficult access to basic facilities and sanitation dominated by large-scale plantation land use of 214. 070.08 hectares, the second cluster with moderate poverty characteristics with a high dependency burden dominated by dense forest land use covering 445,093.85 hectares and the third cluster with high poverty characteristics with low welfare levels dominated by dense forest land use covering 78,661.08 hectares.
