The construction of toll roads serves not only as interregional connectivity infrastructure but also has implications for the dynamics of local community mobility. However, studies examining its impacts on areas surrounding interchanges remain limited. This study aims to analyze the impact of the Pekanbaru–Bangkinang Toll Road segment on community mobility patterns in eight villages with direct access to interchanges, focusing on socioeconomic aspects, activity characteristics, and travel behavior.
The study employed a quantitative approach through a survey of 375 households using proportional random sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, complemented by alluvial diagrams to visualize transitions in mobility patterns. The results show that the community is predominantly composed of working-age groups with secondary education and lower-middle income levels, who tend to use motorcycles as their primary mode of transportation. Toll road utilization is more prevalent among higher-income groups, who predominantly use cars, indicating disparities in accessibility.
Activity patterns have shifted from predominantly routine activities toward multi-purpose activity combinations, while daily travel frequency has increased alongside the emergence of new mobility patterns. These findings indicate that the toll road has encouraged the diversification of mobility at the local level, although its benefits have not been distributed evenly across all community groups. Therefore, an inclusive transportation strategy, supported by integration with local transport modes and more affordable access policies, is needed to ensure that t
