Abstract

Household organic waste such as banana peels (Musa spp.) and bilimbi (Averrhoa bilimbi) presents an opportunity for utilization. Banana peels (Musa spp.) and bilimbi (Averrhoa bilimbi) contain bioactive compounds that have the potential to act as natural cleaners and antibacterials. Banana peels (Musa spp.) contain alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, tannins, and saponins, which are effective as base materials for dishwashing soap. Bilimbi (Averrhoa bilimbi) is utilized because analytical results show it is effective as a dishwashing soap base material that functions as a fat binder, antioxidant, disinfectant, and killer of germs and bacteria. This study aims to examine the effectiveness in terms of pH and cleaning power of the dishwashing soap, as well as to conduct concentration variations to determine the optimal dosage for the dishwashing soap. The method used involves the extraction of active ingredients and the formulation of liquid soap with the addition of non-synthetic surfactants. The results of this study produced an effective, affordable, and safe-to-use dishwashing soap product. This research is expected to support the principles of sustainability and serve as a solution for the utilization of household organic waste.
