Analysis of Wage Rate Setting for Brilink Transaction Services from the Perspective of the Ijarah Contract in Pelawan Jaya Village

Abstract

BRILink is a banking service that allows partners to conduct banking transactions on behalf of BRI. In practice, BRILink agents receive fees for each transaction. This study aims to analyze the pricing of BRILink transaction services from an ijarah perspective. The research methodology used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with field studies of several BRILink agents and BRILink customers. The research results show that paying BRILink agents for remuneration has become a widely accepted social practice, despite not being formally standardized in a written agreement. This practice can be categorized as a form of ijarah based on 'urf, a social custom considered valid under Sharia law as long as it does not conflict with the principles of justice and mutual consent. However, some information imbalances remain, particularly related to unclear rates and a lack of transparency from the outset of the transaction. Therefore, Sharia education for BRILink agents and the public, along with the application of the principles of justice and transparency, is still needed to ensure this practice is truly in line with Islamic values.
