Hubungan Antara Simvastatin dan Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms: Studi Pilot pada Pasien Program Pengelolaan Penyakit Kronis di Gorontalo, Indonesia

Latar Belakang: Efek samping penggunaan simvastatin dikaitkan dengan gejala lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), yang mana hal tersebut mempengaruhi angka kepatuhan obat.
Tujuan: untuk mengetahui hubungan antara penggunaan simvastatin dengan gejala LUTS pada pasien PROLANIS di Provinsi Gorontalo.
Metode: Desain penelitian cross-sectional dilakukan pada pasien PROLANIS yang tinggal di daerah rural, periurban, dan urban di Provinsi Gorontalo. Tehnik purposive sampling dilakukan pada pasien dan daerah yang memenuhi syarat. Penggunaan simvastatin dikelompokkan berdasarkan durasi lama penggunaan (tidak menggunakan, < 6 bulan, dan > 6 bulan). Gejala LUTS diukur dengan menggunakan kuesioner international prostate symptom score (IPSS) dan dikategorikan menjadi gejala ringan, sedang, dan berat. Gejala LUTS dianggap bermakna apabila skor IPSS ≥8.
Hasil: dari 96 partispan, terdapat 46,9% yang menggunakan simvastatin dalam jangka panjang secara rutin. Selain itu, terdapat 28,1% partisipan yang mengalami gejala LUTS yang bermakna. Terdapat korelasi positif antara intensitas penggunaan simvastatin dengan derajat gejala LUTS (r=0,021, p=0,038). Meskipun demikian, tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna proporsi pengguna statin dan gejala LUTS antara daerah rural, urban, dan periurban
Simpulan: penggunaan simvastatin berkaitan dengan perburukan gejala LUTS. Penelitian lebih lanjut dengan melibatkan sampel lebih besar dan multisenter diperlukan untuk mengkonfirmasi hasil penelitian ini.
