Problem Based Learning berbantuan Powtoon: Pengaruhnya terhadap Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis pada Materi Sistem Pencernaan

The critical thinking skills of high school students on the human digestive system material have not developed optimally due to the limitations of interactive learning media. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Powtoon media on the critical thinking skills of 11th-grade students at MA Swasta Madinatussalam. This quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group design involved 58 students selected using the total sampling technique, divided into an experimental group (n=30) and a control group (n=28). Data were collected using an expert-validated essay test instrument based on Facione's critical thinking indicators, tested for prerequisites (normality and homogeneity), and analyzed using the Independent Sample t-test. The results showed that the post-test mean score of the experimental group (89.27) was significantly higher than the control group (77.68) with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, where the highest achievement was in the explanation indicator. Thus, the application of the PBL model assisted by Powtoon media is proven effective in improving critical thinking skills and facilitating students' conceptual understanding of the digestive system material.
