Abstract
This study aims to analyze the consumption behavior of Islamic boarding school students (santri) in online shopping through the Shopee platform from the perspective of Imam Haramain's muamalah (religious transactions) and the motives behind it. The study was conducted at the Al-Muhajirin 3 Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang Islamic Boarding School with a qualitative approach through case studies, using data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the frequency of online shopping among Islamic boarding school students is generally 2–4 times per month with an average expenditure of IDR 100,000–IDR 200,000 per transaction. The main motives for online shopping include promotions, practicality, hobbies, needs, cost efficiency, and the influence of the social environment. Overall, the consumption behavior of Islamic boarding school students is considered to be in line with the principles of muamalah according to Imam Haramain's perspective, which emphasizes the benefit, prevention of loss, avoidance of waste, protection of assets, and justice in economic circulation. Thus, online shopping among Islamic boarding school students can run in accordance with Islamic teachings if managed wisely and proportionally.
