Abstract

This study aims to compare the stability of materials and grayscale image quality of agar and oil-based ultrasonography (USG) phantoms. The method used includes making two types of phantoms with the same object, then imaging using a MINDRAY brand Ultrasography (USG) device type DP-10. Grayscale data was analyzed by calculating the average, standard deviation, and visual evaluation based on homogeneity, contrast, noise, and edge sharpness. The results showed that both phantoms had grayscale values that were still within the tolerance range of ±10% of the average, indicating the stability of wave propagation at an acceptable depth. However, the oil phantom showed a higher average intensity value of 9.838 cm and a lower standard deviation of 0.152053, compared to agar 9.584 cm and a standard deviation of 0.202. The oil phantom image appeared more homogeneous, sharp, and had minimal noise compared to the agar phantom. Thus, the oil-based phantom is considered superior in producing stable and representative grayscale image quality, and is more durable than agar
