Abstract

Abstract: This research examines the theory of a holistic approach to child development and the influence of the environment and parenting styles. Child development is often viewed in isolation, with approaches that isolate various aspects. This approach makes it difficult to fully understand the complexity of child development. This research reviews the theory of a holistic approach to child development and explores the impact of the environment and parenting styles on this process. In a holistic approach, children are viewed as whole individuals, encompassing physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects. The research method used is a literature review from various relevant scientific sources. The analysis results indicate that the family, school, and community environments play a significant role in shaping child development. Parenting styles play a crucial role in shaping a child's character, emotional regulation, and social skills. Democratic parenting styles have a positive impact on child development. On the other hand, authoritarian and permissive parenting styles tend to negatively impact a child's independence and self-control. These findings emphasize the importance of combining a holistic approach, environmental quality, and parenting styles to support optimal child development.
