This study discusses the Habaib network in Southeast Asia, focusing on the Ba’lawi Habaib who migrated and traded from the Arabian Peninsula, contributing to the region's transformation. Their historical and cultural impact, particularly in religion and politics, has greatly influenced Islam in Southeast Asia. Using four methods heuristic, critical, interpretative, and historiographical this study explores the social role of the Habaib and their impact on the region. The Habaib are present in several Southeast Asian countries. In Indonesia, notable figures include Habib Husein bin Abu Bakar Alaydrus, Sayid Usman bin Yahya, and Habib Ali bin Abdurrahman Al-Habsyi. Malaysia is home to figures such as Habib Alwi bin Thohir Al-Haddad and Habib Ustman bin Muhammad bin Alwi Utsman bin Yahya. In Singapore, there is Habib Nuh bin Muhammad Al-Habsyi, while Thailand has the Alawiyyin community that fled from the Bani Umayyah and Al-Hajjaj. Brunei Darussalam's Sultan Syarif Ali, the third Sultan, and in the Philippines, descendants of Alawi bin Muhammad bin Ali are also part of this network. The lineage of the Habaib traces back to Amul Faqih al Makdum al-Alawi al-Husaini. Many of them have played significant roles in politics, economics, and religion, contributing to the transformation of Islam in Southeast Asia.
