ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EDUCATIONAL SUPERVISION APPROACHES AND TECHNIQUES AT MA MIFTAHUL ULUM SAMPANG

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of supervision approaches and techniques at the Islamic educational institution MA Miftahul Ulum Sampang. A mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential model, beginning with quantitative data collection and then supported by qualitative data, was used in this study. Population in this study included all teaching staff at MA Miftahul Ulum Sampang, consisting of 21 teaching staff. Research sample was determined using purposive sampling, considering the potential for occurrence at various levels. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis with help of IBM SPSS Statistics version 25. Qualitative data collection techniques used participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Results of this study indicate that supervision approach has average value of 4.23 with standard deviation of 0.53, supervision techniques obtained an average value of 4.19 with a standard deviation of 0.51, including effective category. Meanwhile, teacher performance has highest average value of 4.85 (very effective category). Relationship between supervision approach and teacher performance has correlation coefficient value of 0.444 with a significance level of 0.044 <0.05. And relationship between supervision techniques and teacher performance has correlation coefficient value of 0.450 with significance level of 0.041 <0.05. This shows that relationship between the two variables is moderate and significant, so it can be concluded that supervision techniques have moderate effectiveness improving teacher performance. Support from related parties is also very important to provide appropriate resources, such as facilities and teacher welfare, strengthen and support the implementation of supervision in educational institutions in general.
