Journal History

INOVA: Journal of Innovation and Community Development was established in January 2026 under the management of the Department of Islamic Education Management, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Alauddin State Islamic University (UIN) of Makassar. The journal was initiated from the concern of the editorial team regarding the large number of community service and Service Learning reports produced by students that were often archived without wider dissemination or utilization. Many valuable ideas, innovations, and community empowerment practices documented in these reports remained inaccessible to the broader academic community and society.

To address this challenge, the Department of Islamic Education Management established INOVA as a scholarly platform dedicated to disseminating the outcomes of community service, innovation, and community development activities. The establishment of the journal was formalized through the Dean's Decree of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Alauddin State Islamic University of Makassar, Number 130 of 2026. Through this initiative, INOVA aims to promote knowledge sharing, encourage sustainable community engagement, and increase the visibility and impact of community service activities conducted by academics, students, practitioners, and other stakeholders.
