About the Journal

The Department of Library Science at UIN Alauddin Makassar was first established in 1999. Over time, by the year 2013, some initiatives from the department members led to the creation of a publication named Khizanah al-Hikmah: Journal of Library Science, Information, and Archival Studies. This journal was created to disseminate the academic writings produced by the faculty members in the department. From then until now, Khizanah has consistently been published twice a year, in June and December.

Initially focused on publishing writings from the department's faculty, in 2018, some authors from outside the institution started to show interest in publishing their works in Khizanah. This was due to the evolving management governance that followed the applicable journal governance standards. Khizanah received its first national accreditation recognition in 2018, Sinta 3 grade, by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti). Shortly after, following the release of one issue, the management proposed accreditation again and was eventually upgraded to higher grade Sinta 2 in 2019.

The journal has consistently demonstrated its commitment to editorial excellence and scholarly quality through continuous quality improvement and adherence to international publishing standards. In 2019, Khizanah al-Hikmah was awarded SINTA 2 (Science and Technology Index) accreditation by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, recognizing it as one of the country's leading scholarly journals. Following a comprehensive re-accreditation process in 2023, the journal successfully retained its SINTA 2 accreditation, reaffirming its sustained excellence in editorial management, peer-review quality, publication ethics, and scholarly impact. These achievements reflect the journal's ongoing commitment to enhancing its international visibility, academic reputation, and contribution to the global advancement of library, information, archival, and museum studies.

Khizanah continues to strive to develop its journal management, being indexed in various national and international indexes (DOAJ, CrossRef, Google Scholar, GARUDA, etc.). 

Seeing the great enthusiasm of authors and readers who wanted Khizanah to continue publishing quality articles, in 2026, the editorial team decided to increase its publication frequency to accommodate this enthusiasm. The request for increased frequency was approved by the Indonesian ISSN National Center, so Khizanah has since been published four times a year: in March, June, September, and December.

The journal always seeks to engage experts to assess the quality of the received manuscripts, and their contributions are highly appreciated.
