This study aims to reconstruct a child protection model in Indonesia through the integration of Smart Prison technology, viewed from the dimension of ḥifẓ al-‘aql within the framework of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah. The urgency of the study stemed from the discrepancy between normative policies and rehabilitation practices at the Special Child Rehabilitation Institution (LPKA), which still tended to be repressive and punitive, resulting in suboptimal fulfillment of children’s basic rights and triggering fluctuations in recidivism rates. Key legal instruments such as Law No. 11/2012, Law No. 22/2022, as well as prison digitalization policies in the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia were analyzed as comparative benchmarks using a normative legal methodology through a comparative law and conceptual approach. The results showed that the implementation of digital technology was not merely a surveillance tool but a crucial instrument for protecting the intellectual rights and mental health of juvenile inmates in accordance with the principles of ḥifẓ al-‘aql and iṣlāḥ. The uniqueness of this study was in the proposed “Smart Juvenile Corrections” model, which synergized technological efficiency with moderate Islamic legal ethics to create a more humane and adaptive rehabilitation system. These results are expected to provide a theoretical contribution to Islamic legal studies and serve as a practical reference for reforming juvenile correctional policies in Indonesia in the face of the challenges of the digital disruption era.
