Author Guidelines

General Author Guidelines

Articles submitted for publication must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Articles should be original, unpublished, and not under review for possible publication in other journals.
  • Articles submitted should be based on research, whether library-based, fieldwork, or other types of research.
  • Manuscripts may be submitted and published in English or Indonesian. Authors must use clear, consistent, and academically appropriate language.
  • Articles should be 4,000–7,000 words. Please use Candara, 12 pt, with line spacing set to Exactly 18 pt on A4 paper, and set margins to 2.54 cm on all sides. The manuscript should use a single-column layout.
  • Submit the manuscript in Microsoft Word format using the journal template. A PDF alone does not replace the editable manuscript file.
  • The publication-ready article should include the following sections: 1) title; 2) author name (without academic titles), affiliation, and email address; 3) abstract; 4) keywords; 5) introduction; 6) research methods; 7) results and discussion; 8) conclusion; and 9) references. Author details must be omitted from the anonymous review manuscript.
  • Enter the full name, institutional affiliation, and a valid email address for every author in the OJS submission metadata. To support double-anonymous review, remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgments that reveal identity, and identifying document properties from the review manuscript. Supply author details separately through OJS.
  • All submissions must include an abstract of no more than 250 words, followed by 3–5 keywords. The abstract should concisely present the research problem, objective, methodology, principal findings, and scholarly contribution.
  • Tables and figures should be numbered sequentially and placed near their first mention in the text. Place table numbers and titles above tables, and figure numbers and captions below figures. Tables should be centered, use clear headings, and avoid vertical rules. Ensure that all visual material remains legible.
  • Figures should be included in the electronic version of the manuscript in either JPG or PNG format.
  • Foreign language words or phrases should be italicized, while Arabic–Latin transliteration should follow the Mazahibuna: Jurnal Perbandingan Mazhab style.
  • Articles should include a bibliography consisting of primary sources (books, manuscripts, interviews, or observations) and updated secondary sources from books or peer-reviewed journals.
  • Use APA Style for in-text citations and the reference list. Arrange references alphabetically and ensure that each cited recoverable source has a corresponding reference entry. Use explanatory notes only where necessary; they do not replace author–date citations. Include at least 20 references; the journal’s author guidelines specify that at least 80% should be primary scholarly journal sources published within the last 10 years. Use foundational and primary legal sources where relevant to the research argument.

Examples of In-Text Citation Style

  1. Parenthetical citation to a book: (Fauzi, 2023).
  2. Narrative citation: Fauzi (2023) examines the negotiation of religious and state law.
  3. Direct quotation or specific passage from a book: (Fauzi, 2023, p. 7).
  4. A chapter in an edited volume: (Adeney-Risakotta, 2018).
  8. Repeated citation: repeat the author–date form, adding a page number where appropriate; for example, (Bello, 2011, p. 167).
  9. Legislation and court decisions: identify the official title or case identifier and year; provide the article, section, or other pinpoint reference where needed.
  10. A non-recoverable interview: cite it in the text as a personal communication, identifying the communicator and full date. Such communications are not included in the reference list.
