Open Access Policy
Contemporary English Teaching and Linguistics (CETL) is fully committed to the principles of open access, ensuring that scholarly research is freely and permanently accessible to a global readership without financial, legal, or technical barriers. The journal believes that open access accelerates the dissemination of knowledge, fosters academic collaboration, and maximizes the visibility and impact of research in English teaching, linguistics, and applied linguistics.
Open Access Model
CETL operates under a Gold Open Access publishing model. All articles are immediately available to readers worldwide upon publication without subscription fees or paywalls. Authors retain significant rights to their work, while readers are free to access, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full texts of published articles, provided that proper attribution is given.
Licensing and Copyright
To promote the widest possible dissemination and use of scholarly work, CETL publishes all articles under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license allows others to share, adapt, and build upon the work for any purpose, including commercial use, as long as appropriate credit is given to the authors and the original source.
Copyright for all published articles is retained by the authors, who grant CETL the right of first publication. This policy empowers authors to reuse their work in future publications, institutional repositories, teaching, or professional presentations, while ensuring that their scholarship remains openly available to the academic community and beyond.
Archiving and Preservation
CETL ensures the long-term accessibility and preservation of all published content through partnerships with recognized digital repositories and archiving services. Articles are deposited in institutional repositories, library archives, and digital preservation systems such as LOCKSS and CLOCKSS. This guarantees that published research remains permanently available, even in the event of technical or operational disruptions.
Indexing and Discoverability
To enhance global visibility, all published articles are indexed in reputable databases and search engines. CETL adheres to international metadata standards to facilitate discoverability through Scopus, DOAJ, Google Scholar, CrossRef, and other indexing platforms. Each article is assigned a unique DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to ensure persistent identification and citation.
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
CETL operates under a sustainable publishing model. To support the cost of editorial management, peer review, copyediting, typesetting, DOI registration, online hosting, and long-term archiving, the journal may apply an Article Processing Charge (APC). Information about APCs, waivers, or discounts (if applicable) will be transparently communicated on the journal’s official website. No submission fees are charged at any stage of the publishing process.
Institutional and Funder Compliance
CETL’s open access policy is fully aligned with international mandates and institutional requirements. Articles published in the journal comply with the open access policies of major research funders, including those requiring immediate public access to publicly funded research. Authors are encouraged to deposit their published articles in institutional or disciplinary repositories in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 license.
Ethical and Inclusive Access
The journal upholds the principle that knowledge should be a public good. Open access ensures that educators, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, particularly those in under-resourced or developing regions, can freely access, use, and apply research findings. By removing barriers to access, CETL contributes to building equitable and inclusive knowledge communities across cultures and educational contexts.
