Retraction and Correction
Jurnal Ilmu dan Industri Peternakan (JIIP) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors may occasionally occur in published articles and that concerns regarding research integrity must be addressed promptly, fairly, and transparently.
This policy establishes the procedures for correcting, retracting, or expressing concern about published articles when necessary. All decisions are made with the primary objective of preserving the reliability of scientific information and maintaining public trust in scholarly publishing.
- Corrections
A correction may be issued when an error is identified in a published article but does not invalidate the overall findings, conclusions, or scientific integrity of the work.
Corrections may include, but are not limited to:
- Errors in author names, affiliations, or other publication metadata.
- Typographical, formatting, or editorial errors that affect the clarity or accuracy of the article.
- Errors in tables, figures, references, or supplementary materials that can be corrected without compromising the validity of the research.
- Other factual errors that require clarification to ensure accurate interpretation of the published findings.
Authors should promptly notify the editorial office upon discovering a significant error in their published work. Readers and other researchers may also report suspected errors to the journal.
The editorial team will assess the reported error and determine whether a correction is necessary. Approved corrections will be published or linked to the original article, with a clear explanation of the changes made.
- Retraction
Retraction is a formal action taken to withdraw a published article from the reliable scholarly record when its findings or publication integrity are seriously compromised.
An article may be considered for retraction in cases involving:
- Plagiarism or substantial unattributed use of previously published material.
- Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data or results.
- Duplicate or redundant publication that violates the journal's publication policies.
- Serious errors that invalidate the main findings or conclusions of the article.
- Unethical research practices, including failure to obtain required ethical approval where applicable.
- Authorship fraud or other serious breaches of publication ethics.
- Manipulation of the peer-review or editorial process.
- Other circumstances in which the integrity or reliability of the published article cannot be maintained.
Retraction will be considered only after an appropriate assessment of the available evidence. The journal will distinguish between honest errors and deliberate misconduct whenever possible.
- Retraction Procedure
When credible concerns arise regarding a published article, JIIP will follow a fair and transparent procedure:
- Receipt of concern: The editorial office receives a report from an author, reader, reviewer, institution, or other relevant party.
- Preliminary assessment: The editor evaluates the nature of the concern and determines whether further investigation is warranted.
- Evidence gathering: The journal may request explanations, research data, supporting documents, or information from the authors and relevant institutions.
- Evaluation: The editorial team assesses the evidence and may consult independent experts when necessary.
- Editorial decision: Based on the findings, the journal determines whether to issue a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction.
- Publication of notice: If retraction is warranted, a formal retraction notice will be published and linked to the original article.
Authors will normally be given an opportunity to respond to the concerns raised. However, the journal may proceed with an appropriate editorial action when the evidence justifies it, even if the authors do not respond or disagree with the decision.
