Abstract

Background: Health information literacy is a condition in which individuals and communities recognize the importance of health information for maintaining health. Women play a key role in maintaining and ensuring the health of their families.
Purpose: The study examines the health information literacy of women in the coastal village, Air Napal District, in maintaining the health of themselves and their families.
Methods: This study used a qualitative approach, with women in the Air Napal subdistrict as informants.
Findings: Women in coastal villages have recognized the importance of maintaining health. They often use health services to seek information and utilize electronic information sources. This information is shared with colleagues and applied within the family.
Originality/Value: This study highlights women's role as key agents in health information-seeking and sharing within coastal communities, offering insight into how informal validation practices (consulting health experts) shape family health behavior, providing a basis for designing community-based health literacy interventions in similar coastal settings.
