Post-Publication Discussion Policy

Jurnal Diskursus Islam
1. Introduction & Objectives Jurnal Diskursus Islam, published by Program Pascasarjana, Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar, maintains that academic evaluation extends beyond publication through open debate, critique, and clarification. In compliance with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) standards, the journal welcomes scholarly responses and letters to the editor to enhance research quality, promote academic accountability, and preserve the reliability of the published scholarly record.
2. Scope & Submission of Scholarly Responses

The journal considers constructive comments, letters to the editor, and rejoinders concerning theoretical frameworks, methodological validity, empirical reproducibility, and alternative interpretations of published articles.

  • Article Identification: Submissions must clearly cite the targeted paper (title, author names, issue, and DOI).
  • Evidentiary Basis: Arguments must be supported by reasoned academic rationale, verifiable facts, or empirical data.
  • Conflict Disclosure: Contributors must disclose all actual or potential financial and non-financial competing interests upon submission.
3. Editorial Review & Author's Right to Respond

All submissions undergo editorial evaluation and, where appropriate, independent peer review. The editorial board distinguishes scholarly disagreement from allegations of research misconduct; concerns regarding plagiarism, falsification, or ethical breaches are routed to the Allegations of Research Misconduct Policy.

When a substantive scholarly critique is accepted for consideration, the original corresponding author will be invited to submit a formal response. Authors are provided a reasonable opportunity to clarify methodologies or acknowledge errors. When feasible, the critique and author rejoinder are published concurrently and electronically linked to the original work.

4. Ethics & Post-Publication Editorial Actions

Discussions must adhere to professional conduct. Unsubstantiated accusations, personal attacks, and defamatory remarks will be rejected. If a valid discussion reveals substantive flaws affecting scientific validity, the Editorial Board may issue:

  • Formal Corrections (Erratum/Corrigendum): To address unintentional analytical or factual errors.
  • Expressions of Concern: Where unresolved, serious doubts about integrity arise.
  • Article Retraction: Applied in accordance with COPE guidelines if conclusions are invalidated or major misconduct is confirmed.
5. Transparency & Editorial Independence:

Approved scholarly correspondence receives publication metadata and a DOI, linked directly to the parent article. Editors or reviewers with conflicts of interest recuse themselves from evaluations. This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure consistency with international publishing ethics standards.
