Journal History

Komodifikasi: Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi is published by the Department of Communication Science (Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi), Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar, Indonesia.

• 2014: The journal was established as a printed scientific journal (p-ISSN 2355-2492).
• 2015: Online publication began through Open Journal Systems at journal.uin-alauddin.ac.id, and the electronic ISSN (e-ISSN 2579-3969) was obtained. Issues appeared twice a year, in June and December, up to Vol. 7 No. 2 (December 2019).
• 2020–2022: Publication was interrupted and no issues were released. Volume numbers 8 to 10 were therefore not used.
• 2023: The journal resumed with Volume 11, and the publication schedule changed to May and November. The issues of Volume 11 (2023), Volume 12 (2024), and Volume 13 (2025) contain manuscripts received and processed in those years. Because of an editorial backlog, these issues are being published online in 2026; each article shows its submission date as well as its actual online publication date.
• 2026: Editorial management was renewed, with an updated focus and scope covering communication science and digital communication and media, new author guidelines and article templates (English and Indonesian), editorial policies based on COPE guidelines, and the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) license. Volume 14 (2026) continues the May and November schedule.
