Peer Review Process
Komodifikasi: Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi applies a double-blind peer review process: the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review.
- Desk review. Upon submission, the Editor in Chief or a handling editor checks whether the manuscript fits the Focus and Scope, follows the journal template and Author Guidelines, and meets the similarity threshold (below 20%). Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements are returned to the authors or rejected without external review, normally within two weeks.
- Peer review. Manuscripts that pass the desk review are sent to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise, who are asked to complete their review within three weeks. Reviewers assess the originality, theoretical contribution, methodological soundness, clarity of argument, and quality of references, and recommend one of the following: Accept Submission; Revisions Required (minor); Resubmit for Review (major); Resubmit Elsewhere; or Decline Submission.
- Editorial decision. Based on the reviewers' reports, the editor makes a decision and communicates it to the corresponding author with the anonymized reviews. Authors are given a set period to revise. Major revisions may be sent for a second round of review.
- Final decision. All publication decisions are made by the Editor in Chief. Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout, and proofreading before being scheduled for publication.
The whole process, from submission to first decision, normally takes 8-12 weeks. Authors may follow the progress of their submission through their account on this website.
