1. General Provisions

Jurnal MSA is committed to protecting copyright, recognizing the intellectual contributions of authors, and supporting the open, responsible, and sustainable dissemination of scholarly works.

This Copyright Policy governs copyright ownership, first publication rights, publication licensing, reuse of scholarly works, self-archiving, and the responsibilities of authors and users concerning published materials.

This policy applies to scholarly articles published in Jurnal MSA within the fields of mathematics, statistics, and their applications, subject to the licensing terms applicable to each individual article.

2. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright of their scholarly articles published in Jurnal MSA.

Authors maintain their moral and economic rights in accordance with applicable copyright laws and the terms of the relevant publication licenses.

Publication in Jurnal MSA does not constitute an exclusive transfer of copyright ownership to the journal management, Editorial Board, or publisher.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts represent original scholarly works and do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.

3. Right of First Publication

By agreeing to the publication of their articles, authors grant Jurnal MSA a non-exclusive right of first publication.

This right authorizes the journal to:

Publish articles through its official publishing platform.
Reproduce and distribute articles for publication purposes.
Store and electronically archive published documents.
Disseminate articles through scholarly indexing services and research repositories.
Maintain access to published articles to support long-term scholarly preservation.

Granting the right of first publication does not prevent authors from subsequently using or distributing their works in accordance with the applicable publication license.

Any subsequent use must provide appropriate attribution to the authors and acknowledge Jurnal MSA as the original publication venue.

4. Publication License

Jurnal MSA recommends adopting the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license as the framework for the open dissemination of published scholarly articles.

Once formally approved and implemented by the Editorial Board, the CC BY 4.0 license permits users to:

Share: Copy and redistribute published articles in any medium or format.
Adapt: Remix, transform, translate, modify, and build upon published articles.
Reuse: Use published articles for education, research, scientific development, and commercial purposes.

These permissions are subject to appropriate attribution requirements, including:

Acknowledging the original authors.
Identifying Jurnal MSA as the original publication venue.
Providing the article DOI or URL, when available.
Including a link to the Creative Commons license.
Indicating whether changes or adaptations have been made.
Avoiding any implication that the authors or Jurnal MSA endorse the reuse without authorization.

5. Authors' Rights to Distribute and Republish

Authors retain the right to enter into non-exclusive arrangements for the distribution of their published scholarly works, provided that such arrangements comply with the applicable publication license and publishing agreement.

Authors may distribute their published works through:

Institutional repositories.
Open research repositories.
Personal or institutional websites.
Academic networking platforms.
Books, edited collections, or other scholarly publications.

Any subsequent distribution or republication must provide appropriate attribution and acknowledge that the article was first published in Jurnal MSA.

Republication must not remove essential bibliographic information or misrepresent the original source of the scholarly work.

6. Self-Archiving Policy

Jurnal MSA supports self-archiving and the dissemination of scholarly research through academic repositories.

Authors may deposit or distribute manuscript versions permitted under the journal's policies and applicable rights, including:

6.1 Preprint

The version of a manuscript prepared before undergoing peer review.

6.2 Accepted Manuscript

The version of a manuscript that has been accepted following peer review and revision but has not yet been published in its final journal format.

6.3 Published Version

The final version of an article officially published by Jurnal MSA.

When distributing the published version, authors must provide appropriate attribution, including the authors' names, journal title, publication year, and DOI or article URL when available.

Self-archiving activities must comply with applicable copyright laws, third-party rights, and the licensing terms associated with the article.

7. Use of Third-Party Copyrighted Materials

Authors are responsible for ensuring that third-party materials included in their manuscripts are used lawfully.

Such materials may include:

Figures, diagrams, and illustrations.
Tables and graphs.
Datasets and research instruments.
Excerpts or components of copyrighted scholarly works.
Software, source code, and supplementary materials subject to separate licensing terms.

Authors must ensure that the use of these materials is supported by appropriate permission, a valid license, or another lawful basis.

Third-party materials explicitly excluded from an article's publication license remain subject to the copyright and licensing requirements of their respective rights holders.

8. Copyright in Mathematics, Statistics, and Computational Research

Jurnal MSA recognizes the importance of protecting the original expression of scholarly works in mathematics, statistics, and computational research.

Copyright protection may extend to original scholarly expressions, including written mathematical proofs, explanations of theorems, presentations of mathematical models, illustrations, and qualifying computational code.

However, copyright protection does not automatically grant exclusive rights over abstract ideas, mathematical principles, scientific methods, facts, or algorithms as conceptual procedures.

The subsequent use and development of theories, methods, and research findings must comply with scholarly citation practices, research integrity principles, applicable laws, and the rights associated with protected materials.

Source code, datasets, and supplementary research materials published under separate licenses remain governed by their respective licensing terms.

9. Copyright and Open Access

Jurnal MSA supports open-access publishing to increase the availability, accessibility, and utilization of scholarly research.

Published articles are made available for reading and downloading through the journal's official website without access charges to readers.

The reuse, adaptation, reproduction, and redistribution of published articles must comply with the licensing terms applicable to each article.

Open access does not eliminate the obligation to respect copyright, provide appropriate attribution, or comply with third-party licensing requirements.

10. Relationship Between Copyright and Electronic Archiving

Jurnal MSA supports the long-term preservation of published articles through electronic archiving systems and appropriate digital preservation mechanisms.

The non-exclusive right of first publication enables the journal to manage, store, preserve, and maintain access to published scholarly works in accordance with the applicable publishing agreements.

Electronic archiving does not transfer copyright ownership from the authors to the journal.

The preservation and dissemination of articles through third-party services must be conducted under applicable permissions, licenses, or agreements.

11. Copyright Infringement and Dispute Resolution

Jurnal MSA does not tolerate copyright infringement, unauthorized use of protected materials, plagiarism, or other forms of intellectual property misconduct.

In cases of suspected infringement, the Editorial Board may:

Request clarification and supporting documentation from the parties involved.
Examine copyright ownership or the legal basis for using the materials.
Request corrections or replacement of problematic materials.
Suspend editorial processing while an investigation is conducted.
Take appropriate action in accordance with publication ethics policies and applicable legal requirements.

For articles that have already been published, editorial action may include corrections, formal notices, or retractions when justified by the circumstances and available evidence.

12. Authors' Agreement and Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript and agreeing to its publication in Jurnal MSA, the authors declare that:

They own the copyright or possess the necessary legal authority to publish the work.
The submitted manuscript represents original scholarly research.
All listed authors have approved the manuscript and consented to its publication.
They grant Jurnal MSA a non-exclusive right of first publication.
They agree to the publication license officially applied to the article.
All third-party materials have been used in compliance with applicable copyright laws and licensing requirements.
They accept responsibility for the integrity of the published scholarly work.

13. Copyright Statement

The author(s) grant Jurnal MSA (Matematika dan Statistika serta Aplikasinya) a non-exclusive right of first publication.

The applicable publication license is the Creative Commons license or another license officially identified in the relevant article's publication record.
