3. Journal Management Structure

The management of Jurnal MSA involves three interconnected levels of responsibility:

3.1. Publishing Institution

Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar provides institutional support, publishing infrastructure, and organizational facilitation to maintain the continuity and sustainability of the journal.

3.2. Managing Unit

The Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar, serves as the managing unit responsible for coordinating the journal's administrative, technical, organizational, and operational activities.

The managing unit supports the development of journal governance, facilitates communication among relevant parties, and promotes the improvement of publishing standards.

3.3. Editorial Board

The Editorial Board independently oversees the scientific and editorial aspects of the journal, including manuscript evaluation, peer review, publication decisions, and compliance with research and publication ethics.

The editorial management structure includes the Editor-in-Chief, designated editors, peer reviewers, and supporting editorial personnel.

The Editorial Board is responsible for:

  1. Establishing and implementing editorial policies and procedures.

  2. Managing manuscript submissions and initial editorial screening.

  3. Conducting independent double-blind peer review.

  4. Maintaining scientific quality, originality, and publication integrity.

  5. Making independent decisions regarding manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection.

4. Editorial Independence

Jurnal MSA upholds the principle of editorial independence throughout manuscript evaluation, peer review, and publication.

Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar and the Mathematics Study Program provide institutional, organizational, administrative, and technical support without interfering with independent editorial judgments.

Scientific and editorial decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board based on scientific merit, originality, methodological validity, research contribution, relevance to the journal's aims and scope, and compliance with publication ethics.

Editorial decisions must not be influenced by personal, financial, administrative, political, or institutional interests unrelated to the scientific quality of manuscripts.

All submitted manuscripts are evaluated fairly, regardless of the authors' institutional affiliations, academic positions, nationalities, or personal backgrounds.

Manuscripts submitted by individuals affiliated with the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, or Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar must undergo the same independent editorial evaluation and double-blind peer review procedures as manuscripts submitted by external authors.

Editors with relevant conflicts of interest must not participate in the evaluation or editorial decision-making process concerning the affected manuscripts.

5. Responsibilities of the Publishing Institution

Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar, as the publishing institution, supports the operation and long-term sustainability of Jurnal MSA in accordance with applicable institutional policies and regulations.

Institutional responsibilities may include:

  1. Providing or facilitating electronic publishing infrastructure.

  2. Supporting institutional administration and journal governance.

  3. Facilitating improvements in journal quality and academic publishing standards.

  4. Supporting digital preservation and long-term accessibility of published articles.

  5. Encouraging academic collaboration and dissemination of scientific research.

  6. Supporting compliance with publication ethics and academic integrity standards.

Institutional support does not diminish the authority or independence of the Editorial Board in making scientific and editorial decisions.

6. Responsibilities of the Managing Unit

The Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar, is responsible for coordinating the operational management and organizational development of Jurnal MSA.

The managing unit's responsibilities include:

  1. Coordinating journal administration and operational activities.

  2. Facilitating the implementation and maintenance of the OJS platform.

  3. Supporting communication and coordination among editors, reviewers, authors, and institutional stakeholders.

  4. Facilitating the development and improvement of journal management procedures.

  5. Supporting manuscript processing, production, publication, and archiving activities.

  6. Promoting the journal's academic visibility, accessibility, and dissemination.

  7. Supporting the development of publishing capacity and editorial management competencies.

  8. Ensuring the continuity and sustainability of journal operations in coordination with the publishing institution and the Editorial Board.

The managing unit performs its responsibilities professionally, transparently, and accountably while respecting the Editorial Board's independence in scientific and editorial matters.

7. Responsibilities of the Editorial Board

The Editorial Board is responsible for maintaining the scientific quality, academic integrity, and ethical standards of all manuscripts considered for publication.

Its responsibilities include:

  1. Evaluating the scientific suitability and originality of submitted manuscripts.

  2. Appointing qualified and independent peer reviewers.

  3. Implementing the journal's double-blind peer review system.

  4. Assessing reviewer reports and author revisions.

  5. Making evidence-based editorial decisions.

  6. Identifying and managing conflicts of interest.

  7. Addressing suspected plagiarism and research misconduct.

  8. Implementing correction, expression of concern, and retraction procedures when necessary.

  9. Maintaining confidentiality throughout the editorial process.

  10. Ensuring compliance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

The Editor-in-Chief has primary responsibility for maintaining editorial standards and overseeing final publication decisions, subject to appropriate delegation and conflict of interest safeguards.

8. Copyright Ownership of Published Articles

Institutional ownership and management of Jurnal MSA do not automatically transfer copyright ownership of published articles to the publishing institution or the managing unit.

Copyright ownership of individual scholarly articles remains with the authors in accordance with the journal's Copyright Policy and applicable publication license.

Authors grant Jurnal MSA the right of first publication under the journal's established publishing terms.

The rights and responsibilities concerning reproduction, distribution, reuse, and adaptation of published articles are governed by the journal's Copyright Policy and License Policy.

The publishing institution, managing unit, and Editorial Board are responsible for ensuring that copyright and licensing information is communicated clearly and consistently.
